On April 2nd 2024, the ceremony for completing the statue construction of Li Shizhen, who is a renowned expert on medicinal herbs in China during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), was held in Fujian Garden -Pharmaceutical Garden of Xiang'an Campus Xiamen University. The attendants of this ceremony include Mr. Chen Guang (Assistant President of Xiamen University and Director of Administration Committee of Xiang’an Campus), Mr. Yang Mingjiang (President of Li Shizhen Medicine Group), Mr. Song Youliang (Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Xiamen University), Mr. Du Chao & Ms. Huang Minmin (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Xiamen University), Prof. Chen Haifeng (Vice Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Xiamen University), and the student representatives from the Undergraduate Party Branch as well as Zhao-Hua-Xi-Shi Club.
At the ceremony, Mr. Chen Guang, Mr. Song Youliang, and Mr. Yang Mingjiang have delivered speeches, and unveiled the statue of Li Shizhen together with Prof. Chen Haifeng as well as the student representatives.
The statue of Li Shizhen was generously donated by Li Shizhen Medicine Group. The completion of the statue construction in the Pharmaceutical Garden can be of great significance to further enhance the humanistic environment of this garden, and to inherit or carry forward the culture of traditional Chinese medicine.
After that, the attendants and guests have visited Pharmaceutical Garden, planted trees with faculty members or students to commemorate the event, and an herbal sachet sourced from garden was presented as gift to all attendants.
