Experience

Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from Shenyang  Pharmaceutical University in 2004. He is currently Professor of Medicinal  Chemistry of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences Xiamen University. He is an  expert on the State Food and Drug Administration Center for Qualification of  Licensed Pharmacist. He is invited to be an Editorial Board Member of Strait  Pharmaceutical Journal in 2012. His lab is currently funded by the National  Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and Technology Major  Project, and 863 Project.

Research

Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry,  Natural Product Chemistry and Chemical Biology;

Zhen lab’s primary research  interests are the discovery and development of novel pharmaceuticals. His lab is  also interested in designing chemical probes to study gene regulation. His  research program focuses on the design and synthesis of novel RXRα-targeting  agents for the future  development of an improved clinical agent within this class of cancer  chemotherapeutic agents.

Zhen’s lab has been studying the  isolation, structural elucidation and the anti-tumor activity of secondary  metabolites from deep-sea environmental metagenomic libraries clones. One focus  of his research program is to obtain new functional gene clusters and lead  compounds through the discovery of new clone secondary metabolic processes by  using both the sequenced genomes of cultured clones and the new secondary  metabolites. They are currently using this approach for biosynthetic pathways to  develop new anti-tumor drugs.
